East Side University Village Community Learning Center offers a range of programs such as job workplace readiness, Graduate Equivalency Degree classes, and technical training that is made available to students without charge with subsidized funding.

The students will have open door access to an alternative neighborhood based community technology center which in addition to basic computer skill classes offers: GED Preparation Classes, Life Skills Training Classes, basic conversational and intermediate Spanish classes, After School Youth Computer Tutorials and English As a Second Language (ESL).

ESUVCLC Seeks:

  • To provide an increase in job opportunities for community youth and adults by offering information and computer technology.
  • To have a computer network using wireless technology for student use in the Center. This access will allow program participants the use of mobile devices to enhance teaching and learning.
  • To be a facility where all students and staff have access to technology that will help them better organize, share and use data in teaching, working and learning.
  • To be the model learning center in Houston for exploring opportunities designed to address the impact of the digital divide.
  • To be a center for adults and youth that reflects the value of partnership alliances in helping to fulfill organizational and individual goals.
  • To be the community's response to real life issues facing 21st century urban living and inner-city neighborhoods.
